Robert Kaufman facilitated the drafting of Public Act 100-0871 as Chairman of the ISBA Trusts & Estates Section Council. Governor Rauner has signed the piece of legislation into law which provides, with limited exceptions, the former spouse of an insured individual shall not be treated as the policy beneficiary after the divorce.
